On September 26, at the 7th Annual Academic Meeting of Chinese Crystallographic Society convened in Tianjin, Professor You Yumeng from the Molecular Ferroelectric Science and Application Research Institute of Southeast University was awarded the first “Science & Technology Award for Chinese Youth” by Chinese Crystallographic Society. In this evaluation, Professor You Yumeng, upon jointly recommended by three academicians, initially reviewed by the professional review panel and the reward committee, eventually became one of the four youth scientists who won this award.
Chinese Crystallographic Society, as an academic and public welfare social group formed by Chinese practitioners engaged in crystallography voluntarily, is deemed as not only an integral part of China Association for Science and Technology but also plays an important social role in developing crystal science and technology in China. The “Science & Technology Award for Chinese Youth” is an award established, organized and executed by Chinese Crystallographic Society orienting at all the young science and technology workers in the field of crystallography all over the country. This award is granted biennially to cultivate and create a group of young scholars and technical leaders that have accessed the forefront of crystallography.
Professor You Yumeng joined Southeast University in 2014. In recent years, he has made several breakthroughs in molecular ferroelectric materials and molecular piezoelectric materials. His representative achievements including 2 papers were enrolled by Science, 6 by J. Am. Chem. Soc., 1 by Phy. Rev. Lett., 2 by Adv. Mater., 2 by Nat. Commun. and 1 by Nat. Phys., etc. Meanwhile, his papers as published within five years have been cited by others for over 2000 times. As the project leader, he once hosted the major training projects and emergency management projects as supported by National Natural Science Foundation. In 2016, Professor You Yumeng was supported by the “Outstanding Youth” fund of Jiangsu Province in 2016; and in 2017, he was appraised as the young scholar of “Changjiang(Yangtze River) Scholar” and “Innovative & Entrepreneurial Talent” in Jiangsu Province.
